| Early in 2004, WRN produced a 36 page document containing an wide-ranging discussion of many wildfire |
| control issues. The document was submitted to the California Governor's Blue Ribbon Fire Commission that |
| was established after the tragic wildfire siege in Southern California in October/November 2003. The document |
| was well received by the commission. Its primary recommendation that a National Fire Science Research |
| Institute be established was accepted and included in the commission's final report to the governor. |
